BEAUTY: THIS MONTH'S MOST ADORED - JULY
9 days into the month of August means two things- it's time to reflect on the products that caught my attention in July, and the dreaded month of September is fast approaching bringing with it school..
July was a month of testing out a lot of new products having went on a splurge at the end of June, it was also a month where i rediscovered some oldies.
In terms of base makeup, three products really stood out to me. I fell head over heels for the L'Oreal Infallible 24H Foundation(£9.99/€14.99) the first day i used it, it's thick consistency, the ease of buffing it into the skin, the finish and all round medium-full coverage is first rate. L'Oreal are known for their foundations, but this is definitely the cream of the crop. On the opposite end of the spectrum we have the Osiris CC Cream(£2.99/€2.99) which i picked up on a whim in Lidl. (yes, you read correct!) CC Creams are something i have never really branched into but this has converted me. It's very light weight and delivers a very light undetectable coverage while blurring out any imperfections, especially around the T-Zone area. Used with a dab of concealer on any areas which need a little extra coverage and powder to set it all in place and you've got the perfect barely there base. I'm usually a bronzer type of gal' but this month i fell for the rosy cheek look, i believe it's all down to my current lust for Autumn/Winter. I absolutely love the Bourjois Cream Blush in Shade 2(£7.99/€10.49), it's a gorgeous coral shade and applied on the back of the cheek bones and blended downwards it looks beautiful. It blends so effortlessly and looks seamless on the cheeks, while it's cream property gives it a much more natural appearance as opposed to powder.
The whole of July involved extremely minimal makeup and the eyes were no exception. When my current mascaras just weren't cutting it anymore, i decided to bite the bullet and open the L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara(£8.99/€13.49). Once i did, my mascara routine cut from 2-3 different mascaras, to 1-2 coats of this. It's flexible wand makes reaching the inner eyelashes plain sailing. Its wet formula injects your lashes with great volume while adding a generous amount of length too. The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk(£5.00/€6.25) impressed me with it's ability to act as a beautiful everyday brow bone highlight. On the rare days where i packed on the eyeshadow to the lid, this acted as an impeccable base and really intensified the colour.
For lips, glossy lips took my fancy. Typically a matte lipstick kind of person, it appears the NYX Butter Gloss in Merengue(£5.00/€6.25) converted me. Perhaps it's was my desire to have to put minimal effort into my makeup on most days, or the pigmentation of these glosses. While they are slight on the sticky side, and slip off your lips the moment your lips come in contact with anything, the cheap as chips price tag and the ability to chuck these in your handbag and easily top up on the go, makes up for that slight downfall.
And there we have it, the products that received my adoration for the month of July, which coincidentally sways slightly to two particular brands - NYX & L'Oreal. Some of which may have surprised you as they go against the norm..
